Ive outgrew my allotted space last year at ~125 ft^2 of shelfing. This year I have custom made a set of rolling shelfs that provide an additional 25 ft^2 of shelfing while opening up 6 ft of wall space. Wifes happy, Im happy, kids are still stealing my books so I guess theyre happy too. That must be so neat. I've got this "dream" library in my head that I am going to build someday. Floor to ceiling bookshelves, in a two story room, and rolling ladders to get me where I want to go. A really comfy reading chair, table to set my drink (etc) on, a loungy area for the four legged critters and a sound system.
Yep, that is my idea of a happy place. :-)

oh yeah this is just to tide me over until I can build the dream house with a two floored libary similar to what you describe with rolling railed latters and has a small interior mezzanine over the entryway with a nice lounge couch and soft leather chairs. Floor to ceiling shelfs.....sigh....oh and I think there needs to be a cat.
