Bellichek made a good move here. Tebow ain't high priced and he'll make other teams wary of what he can do. Tight end now and wildcat formation QB?

They probably won’t use him much, but I don’t think he will hurt the team. After the offseason they had, that is going to be pretty tough to do.

Tebow will be cut before the opening game kickoff.

Tebow will be cut before the opening game kickoff.

Who will they replace him with that at the same salary can sell more tickets, concessions and licensed goods?

The fact that they’re giving him a chance already has set them higher in my opinion.

He might be cut, Brady and Martin could get hurt, or he become a great tight end; who knows?

But they Gave. Him. A. Chance.

the question didnt specify on or off the field.
on the field, maybe. off the field, the following is a lock.
the average joe in new england will have a positive view of tebows work ethic and faith. the hedonists that make up the boston media will work overtime being critical eveytime tebow curses (in massachusetts that means saying lord or jesus).

The Patriots already sell out every game without Tebow. Merchandise sales are mot at the top of Belichick's priority list and he makes the personnel decisions.

I believe they have sold out their last ~200 consecutive home games, dating back to when Kraft first purchased the team (1994 or 1995, I think). They sell plenty of Brady jerseys (and various other players), and I would guess their concession sales are just fine.

I’m scratching my head wondering why such a specious poll needs to be FReeped.

My understanding is that Tebow is being paid league minimum wage. Players earning minimum wage generally don't last long. The Patriots are unlikely to cut Tebow at minimum wage in order to replace him on the roster with someone earning 2x minimum wage but if they do, you would be the first to agree it wasn't an apples-apples swap.

Who at Tebow's salary will better help the team? Tebow takes away some of the negative Hernandez distraction, he boosts television ratings and license sales. For away games, he probably boosts ticket sales and concessions for the opponent.

Smart move by Belichek. I can see a defense that is getting too rowdy and confident getting the tempo of the game changed by putting Tebow in.

Why the Jets not use him when Sanchez was playing so badly? Why did Denver dump him? Didn’t he win games for them?

Tebow is an asset to any football team he might play on. For all his sylistic warts (delivery motion throwing the ball, etc.) the guy wins games. Even Playoff games.

The movie "Moneyball" makes an excellent point of how, prior to the "Billy Beane model" in Oakland, baseball scouts and talent coordinators used to employ a version of "throwing chicken bones" or "reading the tea leaves" to determine player ability.

It is a symptom of the same "voodoo"-driven malaise that finds a player with Tebow's proven ability to win even HUGE games ignored, and be considered persona non grata because he "prays" on the field and draws media attention with this habit.

At least half the players on every pro football team do some version of much the same thing, yet they are not painted as "pariahs." There is a reason why it's always a good idea to question authority, beyond the fact that there could be no more "American" a proclivity. It's because authority is just a likely to 'get it wrong' as it is to 'get it right,' and if we don't pay attention, nobody will.

Tebow will be a Patriot for a long, long time, and contribute greatly over that period. IMHO.

;-\

Mathematically, Tebow > Hernandez.

Yes.
Arguably, Tebow is the most demonstrably moral man in the NFL and these are the Cheatriots.
I didn't see the poll, nor can I find the results.

I doubt if you missed much. I hate polls, especially silly ones such as this.
