School Supply Lists (Vanity)
Me

Posted on 07/28/2013 3:45:35 AM PDT by MacMattico

I'm in NY and my daughter's schools just recently put out their "school supply lists" -- what students have to have for each class and supplies they "share" like tissues, whiteboard markers, colored pencils. My kids are in high school and Jr High.

It cost me $206 for school supplies! And we spend about $17,000 per year per student in this district! Wayyy over taxed!! My parents couldn't have afforded this for 4 kids.

I told the Superintendent this was ridiculous. She tried to steer me to a "charity" group that could help me get the supply's. I said I'm not in need of charity, I think you're wasting our money! She told me not to worry, when school starts they'll have some free supply give-a-ways! How dense! I don't need your $$, I need you to stop wasting money that isn't yours!

Y’all have my sympathy.

Rebelbase, you really need to send that sympathy to the redistribution center because you have TOO MUCH of it and there are many of us who have none at all and that's unfair!

All institutional schools need two things: students and money. You are contributing the kid part of this formula and feeding the government monster of socialist-entitlement schooling.

1) By continuing to send your children into these Marxist-run centers of socialist-entitment and single-payer schooling you are part of the problem. You are feeding the godless, socialist-entitlement.

2) Nearly every teacher in an institutional school has been trained by Marxist/fascist/Progs in Marxist/fascist/Prog run colleges of education. Honestly, it is far more work to deprogram a child from all that Marxist/fascist/Prog influence than it is to merely homeschool.

3) Please remember that government schooling exists to provide white collar jobs to minimally talented people and to teach children to be comfortable with accepting socialism by forcing them to attend socialist-entitlement, single-payer, and compulsory-use indoctrination centers. It has little to do with actually educating children.

I bet there are **many** homeschooling families that spend **less** that $200/ child for the entire year on homeschool supplies and curriculum. Maybe we will hear from a few on this thread.

Finally,....I consider forcing children into GODLESS and socialist-entitlement Marxist/fascist/Prog indoctrination camps ( misnamed “public” schools) that I have made a personal decision. I will NOT have a government school worker for a friend! They are too evil, too stupid, or too much of a Useful Idiot to be a friend. I won't have abortion workers for friends either.

The average teacher in my district makes $80,000 a year plus.

Wow, what school district do you live in.

I have been teaching for 31 years (this is my last year teaching) and I make 79,000.

Sacrifice and go private if possible.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Nearly every institutional school teacher ( socialist-entitlement schools and private) were trained by Marxist/fascist/Progs in colleges of “education” that are run by Marxist/fascist/Progs.

Not all private schools are equal. Beware and investigate careful the background of those administrating and teaching in the private school.

Why can't the students just use the calculator on their iPod?

And then when the test is over, they can listen to

Been Caught Stealing   to celebrate!!.   woo hoo!     *bump*

This is child abuse.

Why are you cooperating with it and allowing it? Your primary duty as a parent is to protect your child from this, and/or teach them how not to let others abuse them.

It's NOT** books** of tables. It takes up approximately 4 or 5 **pages** ! And...That includes not only the trig functions but also log tables in base 10 and e.

It is actually **lighter** and less bulky to have it in printed form than to carry around an expensive calculator.

However....My homeschooled Saxon Math kids used a calculator for Algebra 2 and above. Two went on to graduate from college at the age of 18 with B.S. degrees in ....( drum-roll!).....MATHEMATICS! ( Yeah!) All three finished Calculus 3 at the community college by the age of 15.

Hm. For my history classes, my students need: a notebook, paper, and something to write with. If I want them to have markers, or poster paper, or the like, I buy it. And I make about half of what your NY commie union teachers make.

Before I wised up and sent my children to Catholic school, I never bought any of the crap that was intended to be given to parasites. Just a few essentials for my own children.

Fundamentally, government run schooling is a socialist-entitlement, single-payer, and compulsory institution. Like all socialism it snuffs out the compassion of the giver and the **gratitude** of the receiver that God intended for his sons and daughters to have toward one another.

Socialism is EVIL and government run socialist-entitlement schooling is EVIL. It is so evil, that ( personally) I refuse to have a government school teacher or worker for a friend.

“There is more than just the sharing of supplies going on. The schools are training the children to think of redistribution of wealth as normal. It’s a not so subtle way to teach them that the interests of the state supersede individual freedoms.”

This is nothing new. I remember back in the early sixties, if caught with gum or candy being told that unless I had brought enough for everyone I was nor allowed to have it. At the time I wondered why it would be my responsibility to provide gum for everyone.

Same here! I teach 11th grade American literature and 10th grade scholars’ U.S. government. My students each need pencils with erasers, blue/black ink pens, a notebook, a folder, and an additional notebook or composition book for journaling. At Walmart this is less than five dollars. Most of our students are “low income” and do not bring these supplies and I do not bend on the policy: Not my problem! They have iPhones and Air Jordans. If I find pencils and pens on the floor, I will put them in a mug on my desk for anybody to use. I’ve had students “unable” to take Scantron tests because they didn’t have pencils. Oh well. If I want to tidy my classroom I’ll bring in my own paper towels and cleaner. I won’t ask studdents to bring them in. It’s the same kids that always get stuck bringing things in and it ticks me off.

The sad part of it all is that the children they wrongfully help grow up thinking they are entitled to stuff like this all their lives. ( Gaffer)

Socialism destroys the natural compassion and **gratitude** that God intended that his sons and daughters have for one another. Socialism is EVIL!

And....EVERY government K-12 school in this nation is a GODLESS, socialist-entitlement, single-payer, and compulsory program! THEY ARE EVIL!!!! In these schools the children WILL think and reason godlessly. They must just to cooperate in the classroom. And....They are at great risk of learning to be comfortable with socialism and it lack of compassion and gratitude. They risk learning that any voting mob powerful enough to give them tuition-free schooling is powerful enough to give them **LOTS** of free stuff!

Government schooling is sooooooooo evil for the child and such a threat to our continuing freedom as a nation that I WILL NOT HAVE A GOVERNMENT TEACHER FOR A FRIEND! They are too evil, stupid, or too much of Useful Idiot. ( I don't have abortion workers for friends, either!)

Yes! GOOD POINT!

I will add this to my list of the EVIL that government run socialist-entitlement and single-payer schooling does to children! It is child abuse!

Not all private schools are created equal. Caution is needed in choosing a private school. Why?

1) Nearly all teachers in this nation were trained by the Marxist/fascist/Prog Borg Machine in the Borg run colleges of education.

2) My daughter taught in a Catholic school. ALL of the teachers and the principal voted for Obama in 2008 and took **every** opportunity possible to tell the children how wonderful it was to have this man as president. This is a man who voted **3** times to allow babies born alive after an abortion to die from exposure in a COLD stainless steel utility room sink! My daughter’s class was the **only** classroom whose children did not view the Obama inauguration on the classroom monitor.

I seriously can NOT wait to emigrate out of here. This country is becoming a nightmare.

True story. They ARE not allowed to fundraise or ask for any sort of $ from parents in public Swedish schools. My girlfriend was on the PTA of her publicly funded international school, she tried to organize a bake sale to get extra money for the PTA, it was verboten. They could not ask the parents to bring in baked good even.
