This makes me feel wonderful. How lucky I am to have helped you somehow!
How blessed you are to have had Cathy and she you.
Indeed.
I wish to God it had been different.
Thank you dear friend.
Not much in the Bible that society lives up to today, but when we lost our best little buddy after 18 wonderful years, I realized there is a passage that applies to pets perfectly, and explains why we love them so much:
Wherever you go, I will go;
wherever you live, I will live.
Your people will be my people,
and your God will be my God
even unto the end.
Thank you, Laz.
Love you, too. God has been with you through this whole thing....you’re going to be fine.
Keep rereading it, or maybe I'm not telling it in the right way. You are 100% blameless. You did ALL you were capable of. That is plenty! Don't pollute the memory of your dear companion with regrets, for regret is a terrible and selfish emotion. Instead, treasure the beauty you shared.
They are God’s creatures as well and our interaction with them and their effects on our lives is very real. We do have dominion over them, but you cant tell me that their “domestication” was our idea.
Good advice, truly. I will read it again....I’ll probably end up reading it several times, lol.
It ain’t your telling, my friend....you did a wonderful job of it.
Wonderful passage....
LOL! Thank you for the laugh on this day....
You are so very welcome.
No offense bro, but given your history, I hope you indeed learned a lesson............Being a cat owner myself, I especially grieve for your lost love one, she was beautiful and did not deserve her untimely death. You’re in my prayers man...........
LOL, not intended, my brother.
I so desperately want to believe that the life of these little beings remains some where/when in the Universe, in the portion we cannot yet sense directly.
We get to see them and be with them. I was given assurance of that.
I learned much.
I’ve had some wonderful dogs over the years, and I always miss them when one of them dies. Every one of them is different.
Most of them have passed away naturally when their time came, but I had to put one of them down, when he became deaf, lame, and almost entirely blind.
He was a German shepherd named Brownie. Like your cat, he had a habit of being pretty rough with almost everyone else, because he had been badly treated as a pup by a previous owner, but he was very loving with me.
I took him to the vet’s, and I held his head while the vet gave him the tranquillizer shot—so he wouldn’t turn and bite the vet. At the last, he lifted his head a bit, looked at me through his blind eyes, stuck out his tongue, gently licked my wrist, and passed away.
Some people never get another dog when a much loved one dies. I don’t feel that way, because they are all different, and even the best of them are wonderful in their own, unique ways.
My condolences.
How amazing. Thank you so much for your story. Utter, unconditional love.
I have has a lot of pets. Whe the time comes each one has gotten a spot in the yard covered with flowers or decorative plants. When I look at them I get pleasant memories.
Thanks for the post. Sorry for your loss.
