The body of an anti-feminist who leapt from the Mapo Bridge on Friday in a publicity stunt gone wrong was found yesterday. After four days of search efforts, rescue workers said they found the body of Sung Jae-ki floating in the Han River near Seouls Sogang Bridge, about 1.4 kilometers (0.87 miles) from where he entered the water, at around 4:10 p.m. yesterday.
We started conducting an underwater search at 9 a.m. and found Sungs body floating, said a rescue worker with the Han River patrol who asked to remain anonymous. Bodies in the Han River usually float to the surface after three to four days in the summer, as the gas caused by the decomposition makes them buoyant.
Though the body has decayed over a period of multiple days, we were able to identify it as it had on the same outfit that Sung was wearing on Friday.
Sung had on a white dress shirt and gray pants for his planned swim. The hems of his pants were also tied to his ankles. Sung had fastened them like that before jumping, mistakenly believing it would help him maneuver in the water.
Sung, a self-proclaimed anti-feminist, had been trying to raise donations for Man of Korea, his financially troubled male rights group. What was supposed to be a highly publicized stunt turned out to be a fatal miscalculation as Sung disappeared below the water after jumping from the bridge, and remained missing over the weekend.
In a message he uploaded to his groups Web site on Thursday, a day before his ill-fated leap, Sung pleaded for support, saying the group needed to raise 100 million won ($90,000).
With my life at stake, I hereby request that citizens give Man of Korea a last opportunity, he wrote.

That showed ‘em! [Darwin nominee]
If this had been a woman, we’d all be hearing about how she valiantly gave her life for the struggle/cause.
I ain’t no journalist but do you think somewhere in this story they might indicate how high this jump was?
I found photographs of the bridge, but they didn’t list the height. Although the bridge doesn’t look too tall, I couldn’t tell much by the photos. I’m more interested in this guy’s “logic.” He wanted to protest something by attempting a dangerous stunt. It’s not something I would do. My idea of a stunt would maybe be to hold up a placard..not jump off a bridge.
Yup.
He also tied his pant legs tight to his ankles, that would trap water, and make pant legs fill right up, add all that weight with no way to shed it. He drowned for that reason.
He drowned because he jumped off a bridge into a river! At least, that’s the nominal cause. Digging a little deeper, I suspect idiocy was involved somewhere down the line.
Or...it could cause his pant legs to fill up with air, making it much more difficult to get his head out of the water.
Pants were emergency flotation devices in the Navy, back in the day. Take pants off, tie legs, fill legs with air, shove pants under your chest. It worked well....

Well now that this was an epic fail would someone care to explain to me just how bad the feminists are in Korea that this man would do such a thing? I mean being that I don’t live in Korea, never been there and would have no idea.
Same thing in the Canadian army, but we were supposed to remove them and put the crotch under our arms heh
From everything I have seen and read it still more male dominated than most countries. Still pretty old fashion in a lot of ways.
Now that I think about it, the man made a smart move. He was probably a married man. When I lived in South Korea, the wives were notorious husband beaters. I would see it everywhere, at restaurants, subways, buses, sidewalks and most other public places. Korea Herald did a confidential survey and 8 out of 10 husbands disclosed they were victims of spousal abuse. However, I rarely witnessed incidents of men hitting women. Trust me going through this ordeal is no laughing matter. You’re powerless especially if you’re a man with morals and believe that hitting women is wrong. You can’t do a damn thing to retaliate and if you try to escape then they stalk you.
