Ancient’s fermented liquid long before they invented pottery and they used animal’s bladders and bags made of skin and gourds and woven fiber bags coated in pitch. You could even use a coconut shell (like on Gilligan’s Island). The skull comment was sarcasm. Most of human history predates the development of agriculture...and pottery.

That depends on what you call history. Pottery predates “history”—the time that we call prehistoric. Have we actually found prehistoric animal bladders that were filled with beer?
