Keep them kitties indoors until this is resolved!

Should he introduce the kitties to the dog, too?

I believe it was a pro football player by the name of Michael ??? (can’t remember his last name, but I know he’s playing football again,) who helped to ruin the breed..

Anonymously, if possible. You know.. These days. What are the leash LAWS in your area?

Pit Bull is young but large and aggressive

If the dog is young but aggressive you have an owner problem. So sad for the dog that he ended up where he did, but I would not want to be in a position to not defend myself.

Know the leash laws and aggressive dog laws where you live. Document, document, document. If the owner wouldn't even call the dog they trained to be aggressive, they are scum and the dog will pay the ultimate price for their idiocy.

"Call the police and report it."

Tell them you think your neighbor might have torn off those labels that you aren't to remove under penalty of law or that they put their recyclables in the regular trash or that you think they are having an illegal Bible Study meetings. When the Cops raid your neighbor's house the situation will quickly be taken care of!

is it legal to walk your yard with a shotgun? Is open carry legal in your area? If so let the cops know what’s up and open carry. Get the cops input, but carrying a holstered pistol will leave your problem neighbor with the knowledge that his dog is toast if its gets on your property. Lastly video security system. ps talk to your mailman. they have the right to refuse service to people with aggressive animals, a heads up carry pepper spray will be appreciated.

The owners are white and this is a very good neighborhood (unrelated to race).

BUT...this couple has inherited this house and the man of the family is a born again Christian who has served time for drugs. As we all know, there are many types of born again Christians...some still quite dangerous.

Tell the born-again former-drug dealer who got a free house that if you ever again see his dog a half-inch out of his property unleashed, you will call Animal Control. Be cleaning a shotgun when you tell him this.

Get UPS and others to also file a written police complaint.

Wow this is an impressive bunch of poor manners represented here along with fear. I concur with talk to your neighbor first and introduce yourself and make your concern known. You can get litigious afterwards if you feel like it. What the hell happened in America when the first thing we want to do is not talk to our neighbors but call the government.

The girl's husband is a born again Christian...but he was previously in prison for drugs.
Pit Bull is young but large and aggressive.

Sorry, but I doubt that first statement. The second and third seem to fit. I'd contact the cops to find out if he is still on probation or parole. That would improve your options.

You have a difficult problem - a drug dealing convict who probably has ties to some mighty nasty folks. I'd start making a record with the cops (NON-emergency number) and animal control. I'd aim a camera from the front of the house toward their property to document things.

A test would be to tell them the dog frightened you and ask them to keep it secured. If they find that humorous, it will tell you a lot. If they really are Christians, they'll accommodate you.

And if you can, get a gun.

Thanks!

Ii should also add that I take my 2 dogs to the “doggie park” here in our town every afternoon. There are several pit bulls who come sometimes, and those dogs are very sweet and non-threatening. (I do tend to watch my dogs more carefully when the pits are there, though.)

and letters to the local media about it too

Make sure there is a track record that this dog could very well be violent.

Pics and video of it running free and growling if you can get it

Just don’t go looking for trouble and push your luck. When/If it happens and you are forced to shoot this thing you want to be able to defend yourself from the lawsuit from the owners and possibly the state.

Give the neighbors one chance. Perhaps b/c of their background....they have no clue how a *neighbor* behaves.
Next time they are out....go over .... with a marrow bone and dog cookies [presumably for the dog].

Is there a chance in the future your frail mom will be the one going to the mailbox? If that is the case...I would take this very seriously, but I would still approach the neighbor in a friendly way. Give them one chance to fix things. One.

And don’t let mom go the mailbox.
