Pit bulls used to be a terrific breed...bad owners past 30 yrs have caused a lot of damage...
There is a true story of a pit bull who was a genuine war hero who ‘served’ with troops in WWI, receiving citations from Pershing and even captured a German soldier by himself.

I believe it was a pro football player by the name of Michael ??? (can’t remember his last name, but I know he’s playing football again,) who helped to ruin the breed..
There is an exception to every situation so yes there are some nice pitts. Pitts have been bred for the last 500 years to bite and fight. Some folks want us to believe that all pitt bull aggression is because of bad owners... BS....
Instinct takes over at times and they bite and fight, they do exactly what they have been bred to do. It has nothing to do with how the owners treat them, it is the instinct that has already been bred into them.
I handled and trained attack dogs throughout a long military career and still train dogs on the side. I’ll call BS to any of the pitt bull excusers and back them into a corner with facts and truth.
Check out dog bite dot com. The facts and numbers are very clear.

Bert Colby LEADBETTER was born on 20 JAN 1907 in Lynn, Essex County, Massachusetts. He died on 2 FEB 1909 at Newburyport, Essex County, Massachusetts.
The next information I have is on the tragic death of this young boy at the age of two...
Elizabeth had a brother John P. Colby who lived at 21 Franklin St., Newburyport, MA. Apparently on February 2, 1909 while visiting at the home of John P. Colby, 2 year old Burt Colby Leadbetter was attacked and killed by one of Mr. Colby’s bulldogs when the toddler apparently got out into the dog kennel and picked up a dog bone and was attacked by the dog who snapped the child’s neck.
John P. Colby is the guy most responsible in the US for developing the pit bull breed (some will tell you they aren’t a breed) Even today “Colby” pit bulls fetch a premium. Google Colby pit bull and see what comes up. Colby bred them and raised them to fight other dogs. In 1935 or so he wrote what is probably the Dog Fighting Bible.
