The 2013 Perseid meteor shower will peak overnight between Aug. 11 and 12, and Aug. 12 and 13, Cooke wrote, adding that NASA's fireball network is already catching more Perseids as the time of peak activity nears.
The Perseid meteor shower occurs each year in mid-August when the Earth passes through a stream of dusty debris from the Comet Swift-Tuttle, which takes about 130 years to orbit the sun. The comet last passed through the inner solar system in December 1992.

This makes me nuts - please help me figure it out:
For instance, the first date is the 11th of Aug.
Does this mean look for the Perseids from midnight on, on the 11th; or sometime before midnight the EVEning of the 11th??
On this or any date.

Best viewing times are from 2am to 5am, usually.
I’ve been watching for 4 mornings straight 3 am to 5 am. Some are so so. Some are spectacular.
Those are pretty funny.
Suppose to be nice tomorrow though.

Over the years I have seen some Perseids,
right from my street, in a housing tract, Ventura County, CA.
But the times always mystified me. . .
