urors have reached a verdict in the racketeering trial of James “Whitey” Bulger, and their decision is expected to be announced soon.
The federal jury began deliberating Tuesday and deliberated over five days.
hi I accidentally put this in general chat/ can we move to News/Activism? Thanks!
Outside of Boston, do many people care that much? Not a snotty question, just curious. It’s not really on the top of the conversation heap here in NH.
Some do, crime followers, the interesting stories, etc. He was #1 most wanted after Osama was killed
Boston and the NE as a whole has a lot more problems than a Whitey B verdict.
I’m mildly curious because he did live somewhat near me in Santa Monica for a few years.
It is a huge story.
Think John Gotti. Then place him in Boston.
Jury finds ‘Whitey’ Bulger guilty of racketeering, conspiracy
I know it’s a hugh story but people have short memories and most folks aren’t as old as I am and I Don’t think they realize it.
Much bigger than Zimmerman vs State of Florida.
IT'S HUGE.
Think John Gotti, if he was Mario Cuomos brother and had Rudy Giuliani on his payroll.
Ha! ‘Zackly.
We were just at the Mob Museum in Las Vegas, which I highly recommend, by the way. They taught me about Whitey. Otherwise, I would not have known anything other than that he had been Wanted. The big deal with him was that he was an informant who was using the position of informant to get rid of his competition and thus make more money for himself. The FBI guy who set this up for him was a Southie who should never have been let into the FBI, according to the video-taped ‘expert’ at the museum. It was the fact that Whitey did what he did with knowledge and acquiescence of the FBI that set him apart. They thought it would be worth it if they got some other convictions. Luckily, this bright idea was in effect for a limited number of years.
