Looked up one of the songs we sang...”Ohio” by CSNY so it would have been around June 1970 at George Mason college. I thought he was kinda bizarre at the time, but when I got to college I was into his music :)

I say the basketball short is way better today. It looks 100 times better than the old school way. Watch a NBA game from 30 years ago, and the players look like they just got back from a gay pride parade with those short shorts. The old uniform would make the Village People proud. The game looked like it was played in the Castro district of SF. The longer short makes you look more straight. Like you will be chasing broads after the game.
Not sure where you guys are from, but what other kind are there - Bermuda? Are you confusing cargo with the long basketball stuff?
Maybe you're just city-boys, but around here cargo makes sense and that's all you see. Camping, fishing, hiking, working outside... can't ever have enough pockets.
Either your legs don't see the light of day or this must be your style:
1. They are practical
2. They are functional
3. They are comfortable
But they make young men look like old fuddy duddies and older men look like overgrown children.
I have two pairs of cargo shorts and I wear them occasionally, but I'm quite comfortable with my lack of maturity thank you!
Every pair of shorts I have and ever have had are that short, I wouldn’t wear anything longer.
Long legged “shorts” aren’t even shorts, they are pants that don’t fit and look like hell.

Don’t know the tune. Did, however, know an stewardess who worked at the same airline I did, and that’s what she wore one evening when we all had a party at her house and I had to spend the night, after drinking to much. ...It was just platonic. Really.
