I would blame FDR and the changes he made - what sort of moron has a plan for the workers of today to fund retirement. An evil plan-short sighted plan, pure and simple. The greatest generation bread the baby-boomers - a generation of whiny narcissistic arrogant power-hungry control freaks that now believe they know what’s best for everyone - they are the hippie generation who were duped into protesting for evil and are now the lawmakers. And their generation bread the worst “me first” generation ever - growing up thinking its racist, mean and undignified to teach a man to fish, just give him the fish.
Our government is corrupt. You can’t throw a stone without hitting the “quid pro quo” attitude of those in power. And instead of fighting for what is right, most join so they cal look out for number one.
It will take many years and generations to undo the damage done to this country in the last 40 years. I think we can do it, but be prepared that things will get much, much worse before they get better.

Well even being the quintessential "Baby Boomer" - born in 1946 - I can't find a thing wrong with what you proffered, except that you believe The Republic can be restored. This original boomer believes "it" is lost. The Rubicon was crossed so long ago "we" will never find our way back.

It would be great if it happens, but alas, I sure won't live long enough to see it.

Nice nick-name, by the way. Ole "Dung Heap Harkin" has been a blight on Iowa and the nation for way longer than he deserved.
