“Mileage may vary if you use...
the Air Conditioner,
or the heater,
or the radio,
or the windows,
or the GPS,
or the headlights......

Yeah, or drive over 30mph. I’m wondering what my mileage per charge would be on one of my periodic trips from Dallas to El Paso - at 70+mph, with ac cranked up and sound system blasting. My guess is I might make it to Weatherford.....

gasoline cost four to ten times as much as electricity

Electricity isn't immune from the laws of supply and demand. Electricity prices are already on the rise do to green stupidity that requires non producing windmills that create an artificial rise in demand. Dump all cars into the mix and prices will be many times what gasoline costs.

If you don't like giving your money to EXXON and OPEC, buy a horse and eliminate all petroleum based products from your life.

In 2011, the BBC did an article on driving an EV Mini from London to Edinburgh, Scotland, in just four DAYS. In 1830, the express coach between the two cities got job done in two days with 50 stops to change horses (2 minutes per stop). The total time the coach was idle was about 1.5 hours out of 48.

Go here for the details of this electric vehicle adventure in impracticality: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/columnists/christopherbooker/8262095/London-to-Edinburgh-by-electric-car-it-was-quicker-by-stagecoach.html

The Model S can go up to 265 miles on a single charge.

"Up to" are the key words here.

Blah blah blah.

This is more old style nonsense.

The VOLT is actually a unique car, in that it runs on gas or batteries.

It’s not yet efficient, but I give the VOLT praises for the combination.

The VOLT will be improved, and will continue to approach a good marketing cross at some time.

Not this thing.

I had an ‘89 Jetta diesel that would go 750+ miles on a full tank. I bought it for $250 with 100K miles on it and drove it another 200K miles with no major repairs. Most practical car I’ve ever owned.

electricity is used by almost everyone.
e. is a lot harder for politicians to go after and punish its users.

gasoline is used pretty much only by motorists,
so is an easy target for their hate.
