The first statement you quote is the plain simple truth. Republicans aren’t united and they don’t have the leverage. That’s not even debatable. Critiquing Cruz’s tactics just sounds like a difference of opinion as to how the republicans should proceed. That doesn’t mean Paul doesn’t share the ultimate goal with Cruz. As for the McConnell endorsement, I hadn’t heard that but if that’s correct it sounds like politics aimed at a 2016 endorsement and support for his nomination. Sordid perhaps but what part of politics isn’t?

I don't think you realize what you are saying. You are saying that it is OK for Paul to compromise, for political advantage, the very qualities that would make his candidacy worthwhile in the first place.
