I am 59 !/2. got “retired early” I have had private insurance for 2 years and the cost was raised to $269 per month this last March. It is 80/29 with a 3000 deductible. I just got a letter from BCBS saying my rate was going to $728 per month. The new and improved plan requires me to pay 40% of office visits and prescriptions. I am currently paying $20 for both. Geeze ain’t this great. I can’t keep my healthcare plan even though I am pleased with it. I don’t have that choice. I guess I’ll just pay the freaking fine.

I had a similar thing happen to me. The amount of the premiums are staggering, however the coverage is awful, awful. Not only is my premium going up from 422/mo with a 5000 deductible and 40 copay to doctor to 649.88/mo they (bcbs) have suggested a replacement policy that’s a hsa with a 6250 deductible and must meet deductible before doctor visits and all else. I am looking at Aetna. I think their coverage is more generous. I don’t know what’s up with bcbs. Most of bcbs policies offered in Florida are hsa and hmo’s.
