Firefox 24.0 Sux in Windows7
My Brain | 10/12/13 | savedbygrace

Ever since this update was downloaded and installed, it locks up many times a day. I have done the Repair deal, and taken all of the optional stuff off Firefox, but the lockups continue.

Boo. Hiss.

It’s more likely to be a problem with your PC than with the shipping release of Firefox on Windows... just sayin’.

I've had the same problem for most of 2013, but only when I go to major US media websites like newspapers, TV and cable news.

Everything else, including European and Russian news works fine. It's got so bad I won't click on any of the major media links at FR, but FR itself works fine.

Any ideas anyone?

My biggest complaint about Chrome was that by default, there’s no home button. Once I turned that on as well as the bookmarks bar, I loved it.

I've been running Firefox 24 and Waterfox 24 (FF 64 bit) w/ Win 7 Pro and have had no problems.
Suggest you do a system restore to a time before you did the FF upgrade.

It sounds like Malware although there are problems with Shockwave.

If you are using 64bit Windows, I have been running Firefox’s 64bit Waterfox for quite awhile and really like it.

Hated IE and switched to Chrome for a couple of months ... some improvement; however as time went on, became very unhappy ... so unhappy that in a fit of anger I switched back to IE. Then, I ‘remembered’ why I hated IE so much .... again. Switched to FF and have been pretty content ever since.

I looked at it, but decided on FF .... if I get upset with FF, then Opera will be the last one I haven’t tried.

Some folks switch browsers like it’s nothing ... it’s always a major deal for me because I’m slow and cautious and I don’t like change. You have no idea just how frustrated I had to get to change to start with. Sigh. Thanks for the recommendation and I’ll go there if/when I can’t stand FF any more, but so far, so good.

32 bit. Whatever it is, it takes entire control of the processor, locks out mouse, keyboard and video card processor and accesses the hard drive. Can't open task manager to see what's running, and I have deleted all JAVA and Adobe flash. Running Norton Internet Security which says system is clean with daily scans. Happens with IE and Firefox, no sign of identity theft, ransom ware or problems with Internet purchasing.

I think it is interactive adware but can't find out without access to task manager.
