This is true. Middlebrooks was stretched out on the ground and yet his feet were still some distance from the base line. Thus, it was not obstruction at all. Horrendous call.
The base path is a straight line from where the runner regained his feet in a straight line to home plate, not the chalk lines (read the rules)
