I have a smugmug account and out of what hosting services I have tried, like it the best.

Currently use the 60d and had the 20 and 50d’s.

Lenses: 50 mm prime, 28-135, 100 mm fixed macro, 70-200, 70-300 and a Rode shotgun microphone. I do more video, mostly for stock submission and some YouTube fodder.

The Ritz camera store was going out of business and the 60d was on sale at a very good price.

Another Bubblescape

I keep thinking I might buy another longer lens...but frankly the weight of the 24-105 is about as much as I want to carry along with a metal body camera.

same camera and lens used to capture the details of what was to be a truly huge soap bubble, shot in less than "ideal" light

Very nice “capture”.

I have a bridge camera...that I seldom use these days..a Leica Vlux 1 that despite its poor performance in at above 1oo isi has a wonderfully sharp lens and a macro mode which is a real charmer.

never discount the camera.

I'm thinking about upgrading my 60D to the 5D.
I like the Canon lenses I've acquired so far and wouldn't consider another brand.

Thank you. Theres a retires guy who used to show up in this hug parking lot within eyeshot of where i used to live.

Ive seen him there as early as 6:30 AM...and gone over to capture as many bubble related...photos as I could manage.

Ive never felt more challenged than going after that sort of image, as one never lknows what sort of image may arise unbiden from those simple “fishing rods and thin cotton “ropes”

I always wanted a Leica but the cost was just too high. I did have a Hasselblad 500C, I think was the model. I just had the 80mm lens tho.

I used to work at a Summer resort back in the 60s. Our staff photographer had nothing but Leica equipment and he wasn’t wealthy so I guess it is possible to assemble an outfit without breaking the bank.

My Father brought back a mint Leica from WWII. He must have been a pretty good scrounger as he also got a Luger, a P-38 and an Austro-Hungarian .32. A gold pocket watch and a bottle of expensive French perfume for Mother.

The only thing I remember was the gold watch which my Brother has now. Everything else got sold over the years. Mother did use the perfume for a long time. It was in a really beautiful box.

I was posed to upgrade form the mkII....to what was supposed to be the vastly superior mkiii. It didnt turn out to be worth the money for those extra focus points.

its rumored that the next big move will be into the 4o Plus mpx range...

I visit canonrumors,com a;most obsessively....

I dont plan on printing any huge images..so Im pretty well satisfied with my current gear.

I shot this not with a macro lens but with the "lowly" 24-105mm

I upgraded a 20D to the 60D a few years ago via B&H. I got a fair deal on the trade, I think.
Lately, I've used the 18-135 as an all round kit lens but have a 100-400 and a 1.4 50, plus a 17-55 wide zoom. I shot a series of rookery pictures with the 400 along the lake that were published in the local paper. The nests were about 90 feet up in a group of sycamore trees.

All this should work with the 5D.

40 mpx would be a big step.

although its an appealing idea on one level I can live without it at present.

I want to keep in mind what is really making the photograph...and that would be the eye behind the camera.

the leica was a grand total of 800 bucks.. body and lens in 0ne..

Panasonic sold the same camera without the leica logo as a LUMIX for far less.

I HAD to have the Leica...but didnt know the electronics were made by panasonic..anyway.

My previous camera was a Rebel....and I used the cheap 50mm on it almost exclusively.

I find I have to be careful thinking that a “better” camera will make me a better photographer..

Great shot. What’s your secret for getting him to smile like that?

It really does look like he is smiling doesn’t it.

Actually that is just the way they look.

I bought a Canon EF in Tokyo in spring 1977 with four or five Canon lenses (all prime) down to 15 mm. Got a fast 50 mm Canon lens (f1.4). It was a magnificent camera, but I quit using it when I switched to Nikon P&S about 6 years ago. I just took the second batch of slides to a shop to have scanned -- did 18 trays x 80 slides per tray. It is so cool having them come up on the 55 inch plasma as a screen saver via Apple TV.

I'm so very tired of the sluggish performance of the Nikon P&S as well as poor exposures and poor performance in low light. So I'm thinking of moving up to a Micro Four Thirds by Olympus, specifically the new OM-D E-M1. Has anybody here used the original OM-D E-M5?

WATCH OUT!

You might be committing a felony if you take pictures on federal lands that we think of as our parks.

OUTLANDISH and impossibly STUPID!

“Close said the rules don’t apply to breaking news,..... and that ....“if you were engaged on reporting that was in support of wilderness characteristics,.....that ....would be permitted.”

Gregg Leslie, legal defense director at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, told the Oregonian newspaper, “It’s pretty clearly unconstitutional. They would have to show an important need to justify these limits, and they just can’t.”

This “idea” was NOT well thought out
