And so it begins the plentiful coverage of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of U.S. president John F. Kennedy. The date itself is weeks away and there will be countless commemorative programs, specials and copious punditry on TV.
JFK: The Smoking Gun (Sunday, Discovery, 8 p.m.) is one of the most controversial of the bunch. Made for the tiny U.S. cable channel Reelz, its a two-hour docudrama based on the book of the same name by former Australian police detective Colin McLaren. He claims to have spent years on the forensic cold-case investigation of JFKs assassination and says he believes he has found the smoking gun that killed the president. His conclusion is not the accepted story.

Let’s see. Uh, the SS agent was showing off his prototype AR-15 when it discharged and took down “came-alot”. If only lho had used an AR-15, we would never have had the “problem” we have now since they would have been banned since ‘63.
This theory should be considered, IMO.
Oh brother...not another conspiracy theory.
People just can’t seem to come to grips that a loser like Lee Harvey Oswald could take down our president. For many people, there just has to be a conspiracy.
Most of these conspiracy theories are just plain nutty.
To elaborate, the Dallas police KNEW this is what had happened but they couldn’t exactly tell the American people one of their own shot Kennedy in the head, could they..
20 year old theory first put forth in the book Mortal Error....a load of crap then and a load of crap now.....
No. Jackie, enraged over Marylyn Monroe stories, pugged both him and Connoly, then tried to escape over the trunk before the Secret Service put her back in the car.
It was covered up for years, with Oswald the dupe, because it was felt an insane First Lady would cause a national panic. And Jackie was properly medicated for the rest of her life.
Little did we know then that we indeed had everything to fear.
Oswald did it. Anyone that has stood in that window in Dallas knows he easily could have done it. I could hit a target at that very short distance with a pistol, a rock, a small toy, anything. It was VERY close in and a direct shot.
Oswald advertised his communist intentions, his buying of a rifle, everything. Hell, this is the most open and shut case possible.
As far as that “Magic Bullet” theory nonsense, if you take into account one thing the MB theory does not, yet was in evidence at the time, it is totally plausible for Oswald to have taken that shot: The read seat of that car was elevated something like 6 inches, which negates the entire magic bullet theory.
One of the cable channels even duplicated the shot several times down to the bullet landing gracefully by Governor Connally’s side.
The shots were not magic and took no real planning or extreme skill or any amount of luck to do. It was an easy shot.
“No. Jackie, enraged over Marylyn Monroe stories, pugged both him and Connoly, then tried to escape over the trunk before the Secret Service put her back in the car.”
ROFL! Yeah, dats da tickit! Dats how it happened! I was der. Yeah, the whole time, too.

I’m no fan of the Federal Government, or Spector and Ford, but I believe the Warren Commission got this right.
The head shot came from the front.
Be nice if they focused more attention on the current pResident
However maybe the SS guy did have a role.. was he a Republican?
No, worse yet. A communist ne’er-do-well did it.
The head shot appears to have EXITED in the front.
“The head shot came from the front.”

Yeah, and the supposed shooter in the grassy knoll turned out to be a load of crap!
We’re supposed to believe this head shot came from the front or side, but not one person saw anything? Please.
The head shot came from the front.
Crazy shots sometimes do hit their targets but stand in the Sixth Floor Window sometime and tell me anyone with half a brain would attempt it from there. But will agree that a hungover Secret Service agent makes even less sense.
The head shot came from the front.
