DAVIE, Fla. Suspended Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito sent text messages to teammate Jonathan Martin that were racist and threatening, according to multiple reports.

Both CBSSsports.com's Jason La Canfora and the Associated Press confirmed the unsettling content of the exchange via anonymous sources because the Dolphins and NFL haven't disclosed the nature of the misconduct that led to Incognito's suspension.

The 319-pound Incognito, a ninth-year pro, is white. The 312-pound Martin, who is in his second NFL season, is biracial. Incognitio allegedly called Marin a "half-n*****," reports La Canfora.

Is his name really “Richie Incognito”? Sounds kinda like a “Ron Mexico” type of name.

I understand that some FReepers labor until the mistaken notion that dogs and people are of equivalent value.

Vick went to prison for what he did to those poor dogs.

Incognito extorted a human being and threatened the family members of a teammate with bodily harm.

He will likely never see a day in prison.

But if you or I threatened someone with physical harm if he did not hand over $15,000 in cash, we would be in handcuffs right now - not getting $1.75mm to sit on a bench.

Don't feel sorry for poor, misunderstood Richie Incognito.

Multiple sources confirmed to ESPN that the following is a transcript of a voice message Incognito left for Martin in April 2013, a year after Martin was drafted:

"Hey, wassup, you half n----- piece of s---. I saw you on Twitter, you been training 10 weeks. [I want to] s--- in your f---ing mouth. [I'm going to] slap your f---ing mouth. [I'm going to] slap your real mother across the face [laughter]. F--- you, you're still a rookie. I'll kill you."

This is beyond bullying. This guy is a sick sociopath.

These two guys needed to have settled this in the parking lot. A bloody nose or two, someone flat on their ass and this would have been all over.

It all depends on who ends up flat on their ass. If it's the bad guy who loses, then just MAYBE case closed. But if it's the good guy who loses, then the problem only gets worse.

A streetfight only resolves disputes in second-rate movies.

Even if the good guy wins, the bad guy doesn't just magically see the light. He plots revenge.

Add to this that these two men both weigh over 300 pounds and are extremely strong - one good shot in the right place and someone is dead, not just bloodied or bruised.

I’ve never seen a bully stand up to someone who challenges them. Of course, it’s a different story if the bullies are more than one. If that is what’s going on with the Miami Dolphins, then they are going to have to trade all the talent and start over.

I’m sure that counseling and group therapy will put this right. If we could all just get along.

I don’t get why this is national news.

Headline of the article by SeeBS says he sent racist texts, not death threats.

No one mentioned either counseling or group therapy.

You talk tough, but you don't seem to understand the implications of your violent fantasy.

When grownups are in this situation, they do not pretend to be Chuck Norris, nor do they seek out a yoga instructor.

They fill out a police report or get a lawyer.

Good point. Very few Americans follow professional football.

Any time a starting NFL player is kicked off his team in the middle of the season, it is national news.

Incognito just happen to be a psychotic thug which will get a bit more attention.

You are right, that's they key. If it's a single bully against a single victim, a show of defiance by the victim usually wins the day. But a show of defiance against multiple bullies becomes a war of attrition. And the single victim usually loses.

I think if Martin had stood up to this meathead it would have turned out worse for him. For some reason Incognito was on the Dolphin’s team leadership squad. A second-year guy against a Pro Bowl veteran with an official leadership position, Martin would have come off as the bad guy and people wouldn’t believe his story until much later when the evidence came out. Meanwhile Martin would have been suspended for punching out Incognito. Martin played it smart, he had no choice but to leave.

The Miami Dolphins suffer with one of the worst Offensive Lines in the NFL. QB Ryan Tannehill has been sacked 33 times in the first 8 games this season. Incognito was a Pro Bowl player at Left Guard last year. He also defended Jonathan Martin during the Dolphins’ game against the 49’ers in a scrap against DL Alden Smith of the 49’ers.

Martin was a 2nd round draft pick last year, from Stanford. I have attended quite a few Dolphins games since he has been here and his performance has generally been weak. That doesn’t justify Incognito’s behaviors, assuming that is the whole story. He has been fired.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins are without Martin, who is reportedly afraid to come back. In an unrelated story, Dolphins Center Mike Pouncey was handed a subpoena in MA last Sunday after the Dolphins played New England. Pouncey was a college teammate at UF of Aaron Hernandez, the former Patriot now in jail on a murder charge. Pouncey is obliged to testify to a Grand Jury about what he knows of Hernandez’ alleged gunrunning business while at UF.

All in all, not only is our already subpar OL in collapse halfway through the season, the whole franchise is under a very dark cloud right now. Hard times for this Dolphins fan.
