Hard to go wrong with a Winchester Model 94 30-30. Light weight and packs a very good punch, but I suppose it depends on where you live and what you’re hunting.

I have one of those Model 94s...great gun

for deer hunting tho I use mine more for

shooting dogs getting into my cows.

Actually if a person is going to go with a lever action 30-30 then a Marlin is a better gun than the model 94. You can mount a scope on a Marlin much easier and a Marlin is more accurate. I have owned both and know what I'm talking about.
