Spielberg’s ending to AI is 30 minutes AFTER the robot is there with his teddy master/trainer/valet. Reunited with the mama he never had.
Spielberg has abandonment issues like Obama does. Steven later learned that his mama LEFT his dada for some other guy but still he retained agains his father in their divorce for over twenty years and kept it full front in his single parent household films of the 80s.

There is also a 1950s tv version ABOUT the radio broadcast of the War of the Worlds show.

Movies can't get the science right. Movies can't get real place names right. And, knowing that, people still expect the historical facts to be accurate?
Movies and TV are the greatest brainwashing machines ever invented. Ask people if what they see on the screen is real, and 100% will say "Of course not" (well, maybe 99%, because there is always that 1%...). But ask them to state facts regarding some thing or another, and I'll be damned if they don't regurgitate what they've seen in a movie, and a lot of people will even quote a movie to prove their point. That's what makes TV and movies so effective - people think they're too smart to be influenced by it, while subconsciously absorbing every single thing they see on the screen as if it is really happening.

I was able to watch about 30 seconds, that woman reminded me to much of Pelousy. Others have noticed that, lol. Strikingly prescient.

I liked the first 40 minutes or so of the Cruise version; it had kind of a 9/11 vibe that made it seem believable.

All fiction is stupid!!
I havent got time in my life to waste on that crap! Mommy and daddy yelled at you for playing pretend when you were young, then?
Methinks maybe it wasn't the concept of pretending, but maybe the things you were pretending, that troubled them.
(Pssst: Even Jesus taught with parables. You know... make-believe stories that teach, guide, and instruct... AKA, fiction.)

Avatar will certainly have you rolling your eyes at some of the not-too-subtle political swipes... but even so, it's worth watching. The special effects alone are worth it, and the novel ideas coming to fruition are cool too. Just rebut the idiotic parts between yourselves in your living room, and you'll be fine.
Among my favorite retorts to the film: they can travel many light years, but they cannot do underground mining with minimal impact??? Heck even a late 1800s prospecting company could dig a freaking mineshaft. LOL
Have fun with it. Throw popcorn at your screen when they say "shock and awe" with derision (and they do). It's Dances With Wolves in space, in 3D, with awesome graphics. You're savvy enough to be able to hear a dumb message (or 4) without adopting it. Enjoy the parts that are enjoyable.

I agree with everything you said except:
It's Dances With Wolves in space, in 3D, with awesome graphics.I think it is actually "Dances with smurfs."

40. I think this list blows. One of my favorite sci if movies is not here and that is Pandorum. And where is 2001 A Space Odyssey. Are you kidding me? Another excellent movie missing is I Robot.
I laughed out loud when I saw Sphere. This list blows.

OK I see they did include 2001. That would be heresy. My favorites from that list are Stargate, Alien, and Avatar. I absolutely HATED AI.
