I recall reading many years ago that Lucas saw Star Wars as a trilogy trilogy, or 9 movies.

Yes absolutely. His original vision was to be 3 trilogies.

First the overthrow of the Empire.
Second, the Clone Wars and the origination of Darth Vader.
Third, the further adventures of Luke Skywalker and his friends.

Where he chickened out was on the last three. Even he saw there was no good way to do it and make money so he lied and said he only ever envisioned 6 films and bailed.

What an amazing thing that he was able to sell the rights to the final episodes...that he says never existed.

They should just go all out. New cartoons....

“Baby Star Wars”... Luke, Leah, Han as little tykes and their adventures together at day care.

“Tiny Droids” a child version of R2D2 and C3PO on their own silly quests.

“Tales from Yoda”... a cartoon series with Yoda narrating a variety of tales from across the Star Wars universe.
