The memo specifically notes that the car can't even drive over a Foster's beer can on its side without being damaged

high praise from its makers... wow

I’m sorry, but this:

>> Photo of a pile of Carrera at the link.

and this:

>> A source tells NBC News the car was only traveling around 45mph when it crashed

don’t go together. I call BS on the 45 mph foolishness.

I owned a pre-1965 Corvair Monza and have driven early 911’s (pre 1980’s) ... the new Porsche’s , even the “race” models are simple to drive compared to the twitchy early models ... I haven’t driven this one but it can’t be any trickier than any other Porsche with a race prepared suspension.

They only made Plymouth Superbirds for one year for that same reason.
*******************************
Superbirds were made for one year and Daytonas were made for one year ,, they were no different than any other RoadRunner except for the aerodynamic aids. They were not made after that limited run because they had served their homologation purpose (qualified as production so they could be raced in NASCAR events)... that’s all.

Even with very limited production many remained on dealer lots unsold , some until 1973.. They were highly impractical and easily damaged. If you had bought one in 1973 for about $3,000 and garaged it you could buy a nice house with acreage for what it would bring now.

When did they start calling “fishtailing” “drifting?”

fishtailing=uncontrolled
drifting=controlled

I do know of a guy in Va Beach who bought two brand new. One with the 440 six pack, the other with the Hemi. Garaged them both and only takes them out on the prettiest Sunday afternoons. Both still have under 10,000 miles. He knew exactly hiw they were going to appreciate and what he’s sitting on.

Five, actually.

Three are in the IDF currently, and are expected to be high maintenance models.

This guy had a passion for adrenaline rush, surfing, snow boarding, race car driving. That passion for some will be stronger than the fame, money of acting in successful films. And it comes with the acceptable consequences of injury or death.

If you look at ‘Hercules Street, Santa Clarita’ at Google Maps you will see those raised road dots along the lanes.. I wonder if the car might have lost traction along these dots. Rodas might just have lost control after having gone around the corner preceding that straightaway at high speed (85mph).
