When I was a kid in the 1960’s, I built models of some of those first ones.
Thanks!
Some custom builds don’t interest me too much, I prefer seeing a good car rebuilt to factory (like the 57 BelAir Custon convertible...schweeeet!)
Sadly, I only got to see about half because my company firewall blocks photo-share sites like tinypic. I’ll see the rest later today when I get home.
The model A woodie, very nicely done.
I remember seeing some of those cars in the flesh, when they toured with the “World of Wheels” show; at least that is what it was called when it came through town..
I miss my 47 Ford Coup with a ‘rake’ , Golden Knights car club plaque hanging from the back bumper and flames coming out of the hood. Oh well...
It amazes me what talent and money can do.
Wish I had both.
Awesome, thanks for the trip down memory lane in style!
That one with the two bathtubs could be in a Cialis commercial.

That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.

Rat rods of more recent vintage are going into some interesting directions, it’s surprising how beautiful old bodywork can be when sanded down to bare metal and intentionally left that way, or deliberately patinated to create the appearance of age and wear, somewhere between Mad Max, Jules Verne and Steampunk.
And let us not forget custom car legends George Barris and Carl Casper.
“George Barris is known throughout the world as the ‘original’ King of Kustomizers. His creations are legendary in the world of television and motion pictures including the likes of the original television series Batmobile, Munster Koach, Beverly Hillbillies, KITT from Nightrider and more! His personal Star Collection includes the General Lee, Starsky & Hutch, Torino Green Hornet and Monkee Mobile. George hasn’t slowed down one bit and there’s a lot of new things happening at the shop as he and his team are busy creating new kustoms, television and movie cars. There’s also a new line of die cast toys and exclusive Barris bicycles making their way onto the scene. Check out our news and events sections as George himself will be attending a number of events this year.
Our shop is available for your next club car club gathering and we welcome personalized shop tours. Go to our contact us page and email or call us for more information. We hope you enjoy the new site!”
