My very first fantasy book, read in 1967 - The Incomplete Enchanter by L. Sprague de Camp and Fletcher Pratt. It was the first in a series which is available in a collection - The Mathematics of Magic.I've been intending to re-read it for a couple of years now.

I also have fond memories of Andre Norton's Witch World series. I read them all until it was taken over by other authors.
