Then they got in their horse-drawn wagon and went back to the quilting bee.

I think one or two Bernie Goetz responses might put a halt to this fun pastime.

Shouldn’t this read “His leg was broken” and NOT “he broke his leg?”

Recall when Obama said, rather critically of his maternal grandmother, the one who basically raised him, that she did essentially the same thing for essentially the same reason?

The headline and story is read almost as if they believe it to be a hoax.

This is first time that I’ve seen a “mainstream” outlet in the US - in the first story, right off the bat - acknowledged in print the race of the perpetrators of a knockout attack. So I guess that’s progress, journalistically.
A more substantially form of progress will occur when those who aren’t rich enough to have bodyguards or who aren’t friends of Bloomberg/de Blasio enjoy the right to bear arms in New York City, and are thus able to effectively respond to, and deter future, knockout attacks.

...when he saw a group of black teens watching him.
(So he put his hand on the handle of his sheath knife.)
“Something didnt feel right so I crossed the street,” he said. “I took a few steps and in an instant one guy was in front of me.”
“Where do you think youre going?” the suspect believed to be about 15 asked...
(”I’m taking my knife to be sharpened”, he said, as he pulled it and pointed it at the yoot.)
“Have a nice day, sir”, said the yoot, as he ran back to his group.

From the article:
He said he was at a loss to figure out how he could have protected himself from something so random.
I wish I had the answer, he said.
Maybe Police Commissioner Kelly will have the answer for me. We all want to be safe.
He actually wonders how he could have protected himself. Need I make a suggestion...or is something so far removed from his experience?
