The song doesn't start turning left until you get to the fourth verse:

As I went walking I saw a sign there
And on the sign it said "No Trespassing."
But on the other side it didn't say nothing,
That side was made for you and me.

There is a verse in the song that explicitly talks down private property.

Through the years the verse was never sung. Obama had it sung at his inauguration. True!
