Baseball probably has just as many jerks, and I think there is even too much jerky self-congratulatory garbage in today’s baseball as well.

There is a built in way to police it more than football or basketball: there is a jerk on the mound as well. That jerk doesn’t want to be shown up, and can do something about it with less possible repercussions as to the outcome of the game/season than in other sports. It might not even come in the same series, payback could come in a game 3 months from then, or maybe even next season, depending on the game situation. And the players all know it, nobody wants 90+ anywhere, much less above the shoulders.

That’s why you don’t see guys slapping their chests and acting fruity after a bloop single in a 9-1 blowout.

One more reason to NOT adopt the DH. The pitcher needs to be policed by other pitchers.
