Those poor people! That’s terrible, and potentially life-threatening.
At one point (not this year) I heard someone on TV breathlessly say that a storm was coming it that it would be the worst snowstorm since last March!! Well, since it was December at the time, I really couldn’t see why this was surprising.
Good for Massachusetts!
The crime rate will be cut in half!
It’s so wrong that they give names to winter storms.
Aleesohn Pahlmahr!
Now that is something to be scared of. -20 or -30 thats tolerable.
-54 is reason to close everything down.
Re: Sugar Bowl
Ever notice that the Southern Universities have the prettiest coeds?
Seriously, this is why I have major concerns about the Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium about a month from now. Can you imagine Super Bowl weekend with a Nor'easter blizzard blowing throughout the US Northeast?
42 and cloudy here in Oregon. May go out and brave it for a while?
Good luck FReepers!
A public utility connectee is responsible for his own pole (not just the mast on the house?
Am always concerned for animals who have to endure these brutal temperatures......I imagine many ranchers are keeping a close eye.....I remember the photos of the last storm out west and the cattle suffering and death. It barely made the news unfortunately.
My cat goes out and is quick to come back once he’s done his business, and he loves being outside! I have an insulated shelter for him as well, but even with this it’s not good when snow gets on his coat....so i watch for him to come back.
Yeah. The utility pole is the homeowner’s responsibility at least in Michigan.
I actually prefer it that way. When I moved in here the meter was on the side of the house and I put in a separate pole and had it connected that way. Good thing too because my house didn’t catch on fire like my neighbor’s when the power company shorted the line about a month back.
....”The TV news is in full-blown hyperbole mode now”.....
News is liberal controlled as we know...so anything is built up now to distract from what’s really significant. Unfortunately it doesn’t take much to distract/entertain and deceive the public to get riled up over the “normal”.
Good Lord! Granted it’s been 10 years since we left CNY, who knows what global warming has done to their winters. (/Sarc) When we lived there snowstorms & whiteouts were a dime a dozen.
Only 6" forecast, but won't be surprised if there's a bit more than that by lunchtime tomorrow .. all in all, a normal January, stupid *'n storm 'names' notwithstanding.
