I’ve never seen a cow in the forest, even in Germany where the forest trails are intersecting grids, and cow herds are everywhere.

Could it mean that the cow is....rabid? “Vorsicht, Wildtollwut!” signs are everywhere in the forests. Many a hapless hiker’s last conscious sensation was the sound of the dreaded death moo.
