Well, it’s just that the whole “hype” this year has been downright wild-eyed and manic. There’s always hype, but there’s something almost surreal and unhinged about it this year. Reminded me of all the news-stories around Thanksgiving about “Black Friday,” which had gotten so grotesquely out-of-hand.
The air of calculatedly pumped-up excitement and unnatural pleas of excitement almost seems akin to a prisoner behind the Iron Curtain forced to read a propaganda script before the cameras. The whole thing has struck me as “off.”
