Can’t help but think that if this is real (the source is in doubt), it is a matter terminological posturing on the part of the MCSO. That Jones describes the detective’s work as not regarding and “not even surrounding,” could mean any number of things. Those may be words chosen either for the sake of clarifying that MCSO isn’t spending official county resources on Birth Certificate matters, or for the sake of keeping the nature of the investigation as low profile as possible. In either case, I doubt Jones’s response indicates that Zullo was confused or dishonest about what the two detectives are investigating: particularly a crucial criminal investigation which, in Zullo’s opinion, will be viewed as “universe shattering” when its findings are made public.
That the detectives work is “not surrounding . . .” does’t mean it was not spawned in some sense by evidence that happened to emerge on the periphery of the Posse’s Birth Certificate investigation. In fact, Jones does implicitly acknowledge that there are indeed a couple detectives currently dedicated to “sensitive” work—ostensibly the ones to whom Zullo was referring. Jones could have said (and still may say) “We do not have a single detective or officer in our department doing any work in anyway connected with anything that Zullo has been working on.” Even if he were to say that, I wouldn’t automatically assume that it’s anything more than a function of discreteness in order to veil the universe-shatterer. As things stand now, his replies strike me more as roughly expressing this: “Uhm, on second thought, we need to say those two guys that Zullo mentioned are not working on anything technically interdependent with his Birth Certificate investigation.”
For what it’s worth, as of about 20 minutes ago, I saw nothing about the status of the 2 detectives on the Carl Gallups Facebook page, the CCP Prayer Support FB page, PPSimmons blog, nor on the new release pages of the MCSO and MCSO CCP. I do suspect it will be addressed in at least one of those places before long.

As a side note, I can admit that I cringe a bit to use Zullo’s phrase “universe shattering,” much like I do at Gallups’ phrase “One thousand percent certain.” Nevertheless, I do hope and pray that the CCP and the MCSO will get to the bottom of all this and let us know honestly what they have discovered quickly and effectively.

On Freedom Friday (2/14) Carl Gallups said that he talked to Zullo Friday AM and that the separate criminal investigation (of the universe-shattering revelation) unrelated to the BC is going forward “full-bore” and that he even knows the names of the two MCSO detectives involved.

Gallups said he was unaware of the Birther Report article that had confusing information on whether there was an MCSO investigation “related” in any way to the CCP BC investigation.
