I don’t understand any animosity toward my post or me.

This post was on an interesting study and I posted a comment to indicate and praise the novelty of the finding.

And I get called a troll or whatever it is you are trying, and failing, to say.

The basic problem is that for better or worse science has a black eye and skepticism of it is growing. As someone who is not an expert in genetic biology, it is difficult for me, and likely most of the readers of this article--both skeptical and not skeptical of it--to make an informed judgement to whether it is sound science or quackery. There has just been too much dishonesty and ridiculousness presented as sound science lately. For example papers indicating a particular species has troubles due to "global warming"...which to a mathematically competent mind is blatant hogwash since local climates have always been variant in temperature on a scale far exceeding any global average.

So now an article explains that some scientists, of whom we don't really know the character or competence of, are saying they can independently pinpoint population mixing events from studying populations today. Well maybe they can, maybe they can't. But as common folk we would have to make extraordinary effort to study the issues and see if its plausible. Unfortunately, we can no longer accept what such studies just on faith.
