Okay — she picked up her mail at the post office rather than have it delivered.
So for 5 years it was piling up at the post office rather than at her home.
And no one at the post office noticed???
She will be voting in the midterm elections too, straight Dem of course
Around here, they'll make sure someone has seen the person unless that person has left notification with police that they'll be away and for approximately how long.
That’s why we should all die in massive debt..... I just wonder. She died years ago, what right does the bank have to drain her savings, albeit the place was on ‘automatic pilot’? If she had a will or other lawful exemption (such as life insurance, etc.) will the bank lose out? Lord, I hope so.
The bank didn’t notice until all $54,000 she had in her accounts was gone.
The remains were discovered only last Wednesday when a bank contractor was sent to the home to investigate a hole in the roof after it went into foreclosure in March 2013.

So many questions: Who was cutting the grass? Why did her mail not pile up?
When I first read of this case a day or so ago, I thought suicide by CO in the car. But this piece says that the ignition was switched off. I doubt if it was murder, though.
Two thoughts come to mind. Perhaps some cars are equipped to turn off the ignition if the car used up it’s fuel. (I don’t know anything about cars except how to pump the gas into them.) My other thought is that she ingested some sort of pills in order to kill herself, but that does not explain why she would have gotten into the car.
This article states that she was terminated in 2008, which was the year that she died according to the assumptions of the LEO. Perhaps that dismissal triggered the suicide.
Someone made sure those disability checks just kept on coming.

Actually, I don’t think she was receiving disability. She had a job with Chrysler, which she lost in 2008.

If someone had not been cutting her grass, neighbors would have complained, the city would have sent out a letter followed by a summons to cut it or else her appearance would be required before the council or in court.
Whoever was cutting the grass did as much to keep her from being found as anyone or anything else.
Interesting that they are treating it as a homicide.
The house next door to me has been mostly empty over the last 15 years. Its been sold and resold a couple of times but no one has been there for more than a couple of months at most.

The guy that owns it now is a wealthy young guy who inherited it but has several houses around the country. He’s from Colorado and spends most of his time there.

And that is good, but even then the police can’t break in unless they have solid grounds to do so. . .4th Amendment and all that, you know, the Amendment they get accused of trampling all the time here on FR.
I have nothing to do with my neighbors, not unfriendly but more of a ‘nod’ kind of thing. If I am gone for a while I don’t tell anyone. Even the police. None of their business.

Of course it could that whoever is cutting the grass is the person who turned off the ignition...
For sure, the authorities should interrogate whoever was cutting the grass all those years.
