Got so bored after about 20 minutes had to switch channels. Boo-hoo, there was religious persecution in the distant past...
I was glad to see Homer Hickam speak up.
A little PC crept in: Rocket Boys author Homer Hickam annoyed by politicization in Cosmos
The big bang theory was first proposed by a Vatican astronomer.
That time would have been far better spent on Copernicus's and Galileo's actual work, along with the realization by one of Galileo's assistants (sorry, forgot his name) that Venus having both crescent and gibbous phases would prove that it passed in front of and behind the sun and would thus have to orbit the sun rather than the earth.
So far I was extremely disappointed with Cosmos 2.0. Too much "inspiring" music and repetition of the idea that space is really, really, really, really big and really (x4) old too. Tyson needed a good dose of "get on with it!"
My reaction too. How many times can you watch the space ship fly through the stars?
It was the bashing of religion, saying that science and religion are in conflict, that got offensive. Bash Catholics, oh, throw in bad Protestants, too.
Carl Sagan was an atheist, but he didn’t get into the anti-Christian, socialist stuff nearly this badly on the original Cosmos.
