Maher is just another distraction. If everyone we disagreed with "must be stopped", then we would have to do the Stalin/Hitler/Pol-Pot thing to make it so.
God is perfectly capable of standing on His own and we cannot protect that which is greater than us and which needs no protection - that's an "Allah" meme and only need be done for false gods.
Here's an apology to all that I pinged that may have interpreted my phrasing of "Bill Maher must be stopped" as advocating government-sponsored suppression of free speech. I can certainly see how such an interpretation was possible by my less than precise wording.
While a passive course of action is possible, as in change the channel or don't watch him, I'd personally like to see a more aggressive approach by God-fearing Conservative Christians and Jews. A boycott of "Crime-Warner", the leftwing conglomerate that owns HBO, CNN and Time magazine is one possibility. In additon I have already written using a registered letter (not e-mail since they can easily ignore that) to this address expressing my outrage, in a calm, rationale manner, at Maher's hate-filled attack on Believers:
Jeffrey Bewkes, Chairman and CEO Time Warner Inc. One Time Warner Center New York, NY 10019-8016
Maher has already been fired for his anti-American praise of the 9/11 terrorists. I think it's worthwhile for make an effort to get him dismissed from HBO. Yes, he has every right to speak as he has done. But, I think he needs a much smaller megaphone. His anti-God rant can be shouted on a soapbox from a street corner not through a medium that can reach millions.
As a defender of the First Amendment, I hope I've clarified myself a bit for those that expressed concern over that admittedly clumsy phase of "Bill Maher must be stopped."
