Computer help, please (vanity)
me

Posted on 03/24/2014 3:56:30 PM PDT by Leaning Right

So I'm downloading a Microsoft security update (at microsoft.com) and I get a message: Do you want to update to IE8? Why not, I says to myself, so I check the box. Well, something went wrong. My Favorites, Tools, etc. line has disappeared. And right-click no longer works when I'm online. Any help would be appreciated.

Solve a free software question with a thousand dollar hardware answer.

My Internet Explorer doesn’t work at all, a mystery to me. Suppose to be Explorer 11. But when I open it, it just sits there...will not go to any site, nothing.

I mostly use Opera or Chrome, so not a big deal. But I’m just puzzled why IE won’t work. I even uninstalled, then re-installed...but same thing happens. It just sits there, won’t work.

I’ve got Avira, plus ran Mawarebytes, but have no virus showing up. So it’s an IE mystery I so far can’t solve.

Same thing happened to me and I freaked. Tried all the tricks I knew to restore my system and my sanity.. But somehow about 3 days later everything came back on it’s own. All my favorites, everything. So maybe a little patience is required. I know I didn’t have it but I didn’t know all was not lost at the time.

If you like your software problem you can keep your software problem.
And keep on having software problems.

I have two Macs and two PCs.

I have just as many problems with the Macs as the PCs.

Besides, fixing a free software problem with a $1000 hardware solution sounds like a democrat solution.

If you have a 64 bit machine you can use Waterfox an update of firefox.

I'll look into that, thank you.
