I’m not really a recycler, I just like FREE stuff. Pallets are cool, too, lots of FREE oak. I am looking at that 3yo stack of oak firewood out back. I think I will saw some of it into planks and machine them into usable 20” pieces of wood for small projects like trinket boxes, clocks, etc..

I had an opportunity to cut down some Osage Orange trees. They are pretty common up near Sulfur Springs. Those trees are also called bois d'arc. I turned some tools, including some mallets out of that wood, and the older wood, I had to turn on the machine lathe, with machine tooling. The wood lathe and sharp gouges didn't do much to it.

Talk about some tough wood for tool use... I'd love to get some more. That wood was used for wagon bearings back in the day.
