TMI. I am sure.
Just for future reference, when the need to remove an adhesive residue on a surface that nothing seems to remove, use gasoline. Wet a rag with gas, I mean wet, not damp, and it will wash right off. Not applicable to Yorkshire feet, sorry.
More Hints from Heloise, er..from r_d: Cant get the amber colored burnt gunk that accumulates, no matter how much you clean around the burner on your gas stove, use a bit of lacquer thinner on a rag, not very much because fumes are strong. Will require gloves, eye protection and scrubbing. Open a window and point a fan blowing the fumes away, but it will cut the burnt gunk off that kitchen cleaners will not faze. Lacquer thinner can be had in Lowes paint dept in pint cans.
Cant get the years of accumulated water stains off in your bathroom due to crummy water. CLR doesnt work? Bathroom cleaners dont work? Try Zep bathroom cleaner, an industrial product, now available in Lowes. It takes scrubbing and rinse and repeat, but 30 years of bad water stains can be completely gone with plenty of elbow grease. Zep products have served industry for years and can now be had over the counter. Be warned: they do use various acids as active ingredients, gloves, eye protection and proper ventilation required.
Please use good judgment using these commercial products and read the labels before using and use gloves and eye protection, along with proper ventilation.
