Beat me to it. This is the truth. Nearly 90 (or maybe it was) today. Local tv websites were all DramaDrama about some allegedly severe weather expected this AM. I laid a sheet of polyflute over my green babies & didn’t get back outside till after lunch. By then it was HOT. I mass murdered nearly a whole grow bag of carrots, the big turnips & a couple of spinach. For nothing.
Dogs aren’t happy about this heat. :-( We lost our failed foster Tuesday morning. She was very old & senile for several years, but really loved her food & hopped out the door like a young pup. She’s only missed 1 meal in the 7 years we had her & she went on the next morning.
I am sorry for your losses. Especially the doggy. Our dog is 9 or 10 I can’t recall exactly. She had a bad spell this winter. I think she ate something that made her sick, and it took several weeks before she returned to normal.
She seems ok now. Very peppy to go outside and chase the critters.
I'm sorry, but I know she had a good life with you, and she was loved, and cared for by you & your spouse.
Yeah, on the heat. I think I may have lost some lettuce seedlings, and Toy Choi when I forgot to open the vent yesterday on the greenhouse.. They were just tiny, but some seem to just have disappeared.
The Profusion Zinnia seedlings, which were in there, and like some of the seedlings, also had a dome over them to hold in moisture didn't seem to miss a beat.
The heat potential is why I went ahead and pulled the cold frame. If the lid should blow shut, it becomes a broiler if it's very warm. I'll risk the cool, rather than cook my veggies before it is time.

Hugs on your sad day. The screen is getting blurry just thinking of one of ours who’s been gone 8 years now. Some are harder to take than others. Looks like the current crop of monsters will need to have their summer haircuts earlier this year. One likes it but the bear will be totally depressed.
It’s supposed to be another sunny near 80 degree day. After the weather threat yesterday, re-took the flats out to the porch this morning. One ‘mater had grown over to another little pot and rooted. He’ll be fun to transplant. The last batch of pepper seeds re-potted on 3/12 never came up so will have room in the garden to try something new from the various packets bought (did NOT need) the other day. Started on getting the weed fabric out yesterday but the winds were too strong so need to get back to it today.
