Everytime I see those unnecessary black bands in YouTube videos I want to scream at the operator to hold the cell phone HORIZONTALLY.

We didn’t have problems like this when I was a kid.

What about when I'm watching a movie on TV and it has those stupid black bands above and below the movie?

Should I turn my TV sidewise (horizontal) to get rid of those?

I got some home video that would be a lot better with those black bands...

What bugs me is I don’t have a cell phone and there seems to be no coverage here. A few months ago they began constructing a really high tower only a few hundred yards from me. It appears to be finished and they spent a huge amount of effort in building it only to put a tiny antenna on top about the size of a car’s radio antenna.

I have searched dozens of web sites showing locations of cell towers and none list one anywhere near here. I just know someone, somewhere hates me and is making sure there is no cell phones in this area.

Oh, yes those people who use vertical instead of horizontal should be executed on the spot.

Agree. I did this myself the first time I captured a video, but saw the results and haven’t done it since. I guess some people don’t learn.

It's like those old video game kiosks with the sideways televisions.

Although the vertical cameras would be optimal for videoing a pinball game.

When I was a kid, our phones had rotary dials, and we liked it that way ;)

Me too,and I worked for the phone company and we all wanted telephone numbers with low digits because they were a bit quicker to dial.

My grandmother had a candlestick phone and I thought it was the coolest thing.

LOL! I hate that as well. Saw this beautiful video of a woman who just heard sounds for the first time in her life and her stupid mom ruined the video by shooting it in portrait. Man I was focusing on the wrong thing there but it just annoyed me.
