I realized early on that theists love these debates because in order for an atheist to defend atheism (to a theist's satisfaction) they have to be experts in neurology, quantum physics, evolutionary biology, philosophy, and psychology. Theists, however, need only have their God Did It sign and it's like a one-size fits all dress by Omar the Tentmaker.

Some of the more talkative ones will try to posit explanations for things like animal suffering or hostile climates that bloom from their deep-seated assumption that whatever makes sense to them is probably right, and that God thinks pretty much the same way they do. But no matter how they slice it, in the end it comes down to what another poster just said, "Ask God," which is usually the closest they come to admitting they don't know either.

And the interesting part of the “Ask God” crowd is they think the Christian God is the only one around. In current times, there’s a plethora of creator gods from one edge of the world to the other, all with an equal chance of being the “real” creator of the universe. That excludes the thousands of previous, and forgotten masters of the universe.

Surefire conversation killer. Tell a theist that if they were born in China 500 years ago they’d think all Christians were full of crap, and by their own criteria, odds are that their China self would be burning in Christian Hell as we speak.
