80% hamburger between $5-6 per pound.

I can still get 90% for $5 on sale... but that will likely end soon.

What I noticed was that instead of the shelves being full front to back with maybe 5 or 6 of whatever is in front, there are only 2 or 3 now. And the store where I do most of my shopping is slowly but surely getting rid of a lot of familiar name brands and going with their own brand. Also lots of frozen fruit and vegetables but not many in cans. My grandson can go through a large box of Grape Nuts in nothing flat. Had to ask the store manager to order special for me because they no longer carry them. Other stuff I have to order on-line like Cheer powder because no one seems to carry it any more.

Also see shelf stocking being done less and less by store employees and more by suppliers.

I have 135 containers of food growing on my deck - and that includes corn on the cob. This is my first full year of knowing how to grow food after a year of failure and study, and help from JRandomFreeper and greeneyes and others on our FR gardening thread.

This year is growing numerous kinds of tomatoes and cucumbers and peppers and broccoli and peas and Brussels sprouts, and Tromboncino squash and strawberries and blackberries and Egyptian Walking Onions, and carrots and potatoes, lettuce, etc... Next year I’ll know the type of each that grows the best for my container garden and I’ll concentrate on those types.

I won’t have every veggie I eat, but what I have will help and no one touched them but me and there are no chemicals on those plants and they didn’t travel in a truck from California to get here. I grew most of it from seed - imagine a garden from seed, those little seeds grow into great plants.

You are invited to visit the gardening thread any time - we have a blast over there. greeneyes is the “master” of the thread and a new one is started every Friday afternoon. We post all week to the one going, then switch to the new one on Friday. No kidding, you can grow some food.

This makes me realize I need seeds for lettuce this fall...any idea where to buy in bulk and save on the tiny amount you get in small packets. I have some non-gm seeds but it does not seem right to use that supply yet (cost).

Has anyone suggested buying and stocking pasta sauces with meat instead of mushrooms or herbs? Seems they will be cutting the protein in those soon in order to keep the prices even.

Unless it increases your potassium levels, had my old man in the hospital earlier this year just for that reason. Guess what is mostly on his “do not eat this list”?

“Lately I eat a lot of lentils. They are so easy to cook and very good source of protein.”

Lentils, that’s a good idea. I have 15 bean soup mix and that has some lentils in it but I haven’t thought to just get bags of lentils for fast cooking. Thanks for reminding me of a good thing.

The cost of everydamnthing is up. If the unit cost isn’t higher than two years ago, the unit is smaller. A pound is now 12 ounces and a half-gallon is now 58 ounces and shrinking. But like medical services, if you really pay for it, you don’t care how much it costs. Bring on the universal EBT..

OR you could just go to the bank and get the cash money since you know / knew what the total was/ is...

Just saying.

“as my “card history” said I had already purchased four that day.”

That is the beginning of food rationing - “card history” will limit the regular food (not on sale) one can buy one of these days.

although I agree, I don’t think that Romney or even Ronald Reagan could change this disaster in two years. It will take five years of a growing economy to get employment back to a level where we have more people working than before Obummer seized power.
Romney might have had us rolling in the right direction and he would have been much better that the current regime, but he would have been merely a placeholder for a real conservative and held in check by a markedly more conservative congress.

Joy, here is this week’s gardening thread. Go there and post, asking greeneyes to put your name on the list to be notified every Friday. Ask your lettuce question there and someone should have the answer about bulk seed if there is any.

Boy do you make me feel stoopid!!! LOL. Unfortunately I was so thoroughly upset when the checker told me no more that I had a senior citizen size snit and left in a huff!

Was relating the story to my son later only to tell him that it really upset me to have my purchases “tracked” and my grandson piped up and said, “Well Grams, maybe God was either trying to tell you that you need to quit drinking so much coffee or maybe God thought you had enough coffee already in your Obama stash closet”.

The elites have a plan. Population control to reduce demand for food; more abortions, euthanasia/medical rationing, deadly microbes, and major wars.

Food inflation has already happened. Check the prices anywhere you buy food

I've noticed about a 10% bump in the last three months.

Those who are in control of America/the American economy do not want more people working, being more self-sufficient. These same devil also control the outcome of elections, so don’t expect hings to be changing from the current direction of building the dependency class setting the people up for the starvation, disease, and death planned by the agenda 21 devils in control now.
