OMG, she is just calling you out, as a pedant, for calling Hockey their national sport, when LAX is Canada’s national sport. Don’t be fricking tiresome about it ; )
OK, it’s nice to see a Canadian team win the Cup once every couple decades since it is one of their national sports (in contrast to the general interest in the sport in the US, which is below that of bull riding), and they have a lot of emotional investment in the sport.
that’s better!
It’s Kennywood day for Hempfield.
So, as is tradition, it’s going to rain. Looks like an all-day washout, too.
Glad we’re not going.
Kids had to go for a half day today, too, because of snow days. Or cold days, to be more exact.
the school picnic is only a half day???? that’s an outrage!
It’s not the first time. They are off tomorrow. Kennywood doesn’t really start until 11 AM. Easy to get a half day of school in before that.
why are they off tomorrow? that seems like a gratuitous day off if they are making up snow days.
Half of my Canadian friends are big lax and soccer fans, as opposed to ice hockey. I also have a group of them who have a vested interest in hockey but as a group, they don’t all guzzle Molson and hang out at the rink.
Yikes, can’t say you didn’t warn me, but oh my. A+ for you. Who are you rooting for now?
oh Darwin, claim another.
Who wants to go to school the day after Kennywood? You could be there till 10 or 11 PM.
I’m not talking anecdotally. I am talking statistically. Hockey is Canada’s number one spectator sport.
Besides that, you could ask any American you meet on the street what sport goes with Canada. They aren’t going to say “lacrosse.”
Oh, now you’re talking science? Bwahahaha! Statistically vs. anecdotally even though you have zero evidence of it? Dude, this is your opinion. You just need to accept the fact that there was something you didn’t know.

In 1994, First Nations groups objected to a government bill that proposed establishing ice hockey as Canada’s national sport, arguing that it neglected recognition of the game of lacrosse, a uniquely Native contribution. In response, the House of Commons amended a bill “to recognize hockey as Canada’s Winter Sport and lacrosse as Canada’s Summer Sport,” although lacrosse is played all year, in all seasons, indoor and outdoors.

In other words, the Canadians themselves, through their elected government were prepared to name hockey as their national sport, but as a sop to tradition and the Native Americans, decided to go with dual entries.
I mentioned that up the thread. Waiting for your statistics...
It was 41 here this morning-it is supposed to get up to 74-76 later...
Whenever Obama opens his mouth
Increasing numbers of us cringe
Wondering what new fairy tales
He will tell on this new binge
Being eidetic is not required
To recall the repeated phrases
That please some, while others
Turn away soon with bored gazes
In every line of every speech
The script is just the same-
Every word is an outright lie
As if it were all some game...
A+ for you! We had some cold weather come in with our storms yesterday. It was in the high 40s this am and we’ll be lucky to hit 60. Still raining on and off in spite of the forecast.
