It was NOT the Renault tank which he actually rode to battle. I’m pretty sure it was a 1930s/402 American light tank.

That makes sense - at first I figured it was a French Renault - but it looked bigger than the ones I have seen in pictures and historical footage.

Bottom line is they seem to have done a reasonable job...but when it comes to the actual equipment they simply had to go with what they could get. "Hey!..Prop man!...get a bunch of old military stuff!"
