I think that is the correct name for this guy. His shell is flat, compared to some of the others.
We live at Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri. Lots of critters like this one hereabouts.
Spent most of my time in south-central Missouri and northern Arkansas chasing reptiles. Good times.

So far I've put a couple of Lemon balm leafs in with Orange Pekoe Tea when brewing...It's good that way.
It’s amazing how much clutter our garden has accumulated and we don’t ever see it until I take photos...
I wish you success. I'm told the best way is to grow a plant up and then divide the root into two plants...maybe others can tell us how they did it.

Sweet potatoes languishing in their vines and still need their dirt-dump.
Could you explain what a dirt dump for sweet potatoes is? This is my second year growing sweet potatoes-any advice would be welcome.

Sometimes there is enough calcium in the soil (to prevent blossom end rot), but the calcium or other micro-nutrients are inaccessible to the plants because of moisture irregularity. Ever since I started mulching tomatoes, I have not had blossom end rot.
Daughter is thinking about raising some chickens too. For eggs first, but maybe will process some for eating at some point.
Neither of us have space to really do that, but she has a friend who is willing to let her use her land and help with the feeding for a share of the eggs.
52 days doesn’t seem like a huge expenditure of time. I was thinking that it would be like from spring to fall before they would be ready to eat.
You have some good stuff happening. I too am having some trouble with garlic this year. Not sure why.
They started turning yellow early, and the bulbs aren’t forming. Normally they would still be green and not ready for pulling until mid to late June.
Did she live in Mount Vernon?

That’s a combo that I really like in the summer. I usually use lemon zinger and mint tea that I have purchased from the grocery, but I am thinking about growing some in pots indoors for this next winter.
I almost never have weeds to pull. I plant everything kinda close (think sq. foot gardening close), and the plants don’t give the weeds a chance.
Thanks for the pictures. I am loving looking at that corn. Would you please tell me again what type you are planting? I am going to be trying something different next year, and I am thinking that your corn might be just the ticket.
I also wanted to mention my Garlic. For the first time, it isn’t doing so well. I planted it in the fall like usual and covered with row cover and straw during the really cold weather like usual.
They grew fine as far as the height and good green color. However, they did start yellowing early and they are not forming bulbs this year.
Would an extra cold winter cause this or some nutrient deficiency? Any possibilities to explore that you can think of would be helpful. Thanks.
