I have conference calls with my LA and California counter parts. We’ve learned not to schedule them at 8:00 or 9:00 California time. It’s always Afternoon California time which is 3:30-4:00 my time.
Why? We haven’t decided if it’s the traffic, or the California culture. It’s sort of like Hispanic culture. Being fashionably late is normal. If a party starts at 7:00, you show up at 8:00 to make yourself seem important.
That’s fine in the social Hollywood world, but doesn’t make for good business partners.
It’s the weather, you fool! Don’t you know the weather is THERE and they wish you were beautiful? :)
