It is a tragedy what has happened to this once proud and distinguished Anglican church, which tried so hard and for so long to be a hybrid between Catholicism and Protestantism. Now it is neither. John Henry Newman must be turning in his grave.
Maybe not. Put in mind the big split was to justify marital annulment for casual reasons as the monarch couldn’t get himself a son from his wife. (How about change the rules to let a woman be the queen, so that she can marry a husband to be king?) Either way, I digress, the reason for this split wasn’t good, the long divergence is pretty much the consequence.
