Then let me be negative for you! This is exactly my problem with this and it’s a horrible idea.

Why on earth would any self-respecting conservative give up their freedom to determine what tip they would like to offer? I nearly always tip 20%, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to be required affirmatively to pay for a meal that includes a 20% markup for the server who provides me with crappy service. This is definitely not a consumer focused solution.

I agree but this is not different than anything else.

If the workers don’t like the terms of employment, then they can work somewhere else.

If the patrons don’t like the prices or the service at a particular restaurant, they can dine somewhere else.

I really do not know why people make such a big deal of these things. Free market principles still apply

Waiters who don’t like this system can work elsewhere. If it is a good system employees will like it, customers will like it and the restaurant owner will like it. If any of them dislike it enough, it will be changed.
